Solano’s annual Corazón trip is an opportunity to respond to Jesus’ call to serve Him in the least of these — our brothers and sisters in need. On this trip, you’ll have the chance to help construct a home for a family in Tecate, Mexico, and to encounter Jesus in those you serve alongside, and those you serve. Stay tuned for more information on our next trip!

It was such a humbling experience to help build a home with just a foundation, wood planks, and plywood boards. I remember it was Mother’s Day on one of the trips, and my gift was to have my kids join us in the build. There is something for everyone to do and you don’t have to have any experience. We got to build and install a kitchen counter with just scraps of tile and wood. It was amazing to see how everything came together, from painting, nailing wood boards to form the frame of the house and a roof, putting windows in, and bringing it all together with furnishings donated by parishioners. The final touch was adding the Crucifix at the entryway and having Fr. Duy bless the home with the couple. Corazón is a rewarding event that brings two communities together. We got to work and interact with the couple we built a home for, their families, and break bread together. This day will be forever in our hearts, as we were so blessed to give our time and talents to this amazing organization.
